Event Details
The German filmmaker Lotte Reininger created her first feature-length animated film “The Adventures of Prince Achmed” in 1926, a decade before Walt Disney’s “Snow White.” It was not her only trailblazing achievement. She also created the predecessor to the multiplane camera, which added an illusion of depth never before seen in animated films. Still, it is the rich-level of detail in her style of silhouette puppetry that distinguishes her work. We will look at examples of her films, her techniques, and how some of her methods can translate into the digital technologies of today. Registration is required. Email: bruce.linn@lfpl.org
