The Wind Never Stops: Understanding Our Atmosphere Short Course

PastThursday, October 21, 2021 - 06:30 PM - 08:00 PM

The air that surrounds us is an invisible ocean whose behavior and movements have a profound impact on countless aspects of our daily lives. To some, the weather may seem chaotic and unpredictable. However, the truth is much more elegant. Atmospheric motion can be understood through a complex balancing act of forces and counter-forces. Disturbances to that balance are the primary cause of changing weather patterns. This short course will introduce participants to the fascinating behavior of the Earth’s atmosphere, including the causes of seasonal changes in weather, clouds and cloud formation, tornadoes and other severe weather hazards, and the future of Earth’s climate.

This program is presented by MyLibraryU and is free and open to the public. Registration is requested online or by calling (502) 574-1623.
