Mark Making in Meditative Stitching
PastSaturday, December 17, 2022 - 01:00 PM - 02:00 PM
Join COLLIDER Artist-in-Residence, Jenny Stopher, to learn strategies for using intuitive repeated stitch marks for the purpose of mediation and creative practice. As an artist uses pencil and paper for sketch journaling, fiber artists use stitch to make marks on fabric as a fundamental creative practice. Participants will learn how to use a running stitch, radial stitch, loop stitch, reef knots, and French knots as a means of responsive textural mark-making in a stitch journal… or on whatever you wish! We’ll talk about the benefits of working with repetitive stitch and learn how to use everyday encounters with texture and pattern as prompts for stitch journaling and fiber art pieces. All skill levels welcome. No sewing experience necessary. Ages 16+. Registration is required, please email Liz.Magee@lfpl.org
