Nurture a love of reading for your newborn in this special circle time! We'll introduce pre-literacy skills through books, lap bounces, songs, and rhymes, ending with social play.  Ages 0-12 months. 

Baby Lap Sit is a special circle time that introduces the rhythm and beauty of language to babies. Join us for a new offering specifically for parents and caregivers and their newborns.

Join a Good Karma Yoga instructor for gentle activities and breathing exercises designed with toddlers and preschool-aged children in mind.

Support developing skills and make new friends through stories, songs, activities, and playtime! For children aged 0-8 and their caregivers & siblings.

Bond over shared books, songs, movement, and play that support a lifelong love of learning.  Ages 0-5.

We will meet at The Shawnee Park ECHO Office, 230 Southwestern Pkwy.  In the event of inclement weather we will meet at the Shawnee Branch.  

Storytime is an opportunity for families to bond over shared stories and songs, as well as engaging in creative activities that reinforce a lifelong love of learning. Best for ages 3-8.

Foster a love of reading in your young toddlers through this engaging story time! Join us for books, songs, movement, and various activities that encourage the development of early learning skills.  Ages 12 months – 24 months. 

Join KHEAA for a foundational presentation and activity to help 9th-11th graders understand college preparation and timelines.

Filled with lots of laughter and learning, children practice fun and challenging yoga poses, partner and group poses, yoga games, breathing, and basic anatomy.

A storytime for developing pre-literacy skills and a love of reading through books, songs, movement and activities. Ages 2-4.

A chance for adults to make something. The first one will be bookmarks, and will change every week. 

Participants will have an opportunity to see, touch, and safely explore a recycling truck. Pre-K to 5th grade.

Students in 9th to 12th grade learn lifesaving skills, including how to provide effective CPR and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). Registration is required, call 574-1774 to register, limit 25.

Join local improvisation actors for a lesson on how to do your own Improv!  No prior experience necessary- we will teach you the ropes!

Ages 10-18.

Tips and techniques from a master wand maker. Limit 20. To register, call 502-574-1795.

Ages 6-12.

Learn a little about polymer science, then make your own polymer slime with a beach or ocean theme. Ziplock bags will be provided for taking slime home, but you are welcome to bring your own 1-Cup plastic containers. For ages 6-12.

Join local artist Randy Gray for a lesson on how to create a comic story based on your own creations! Create your own story idea or be given a plot prompt to make your own comic or storybook. Grades 2-7

Calling all homeschool high schoolers! Join us for a teen-led book club.

Truck Demonstration Participants will have an opportunity to see, touch, and safely explore a recycling truck. For Ages 3-12.

Love to create? Explore your creativity, learn new skills, and have fun with friends who love art as much as you do! All material provided.

Join KHEAA presenters as they walk families through everything, they need to know about paying for college.

Build with the library’s collection of LEGOs, explore sensory bins, and enjoy a snack!

When people design systems, environments, and products with different personal needs in mind, the world becomes easier to navigate for everyone.

Come build together with Lego bricks, blocks, and/or a variety of other building sets for various ages and stages. Family-friendly, all ages.

Join us for an ocean storytime followed by ocean activities and crafts. Ocean-themed snacks will be served from our Charlie Cart mobile kitchen.

Learn beginner photography skills and how to take clean photos with our local 4-H Cooperative Extension Office.

Please bring a camera, phone, or tablet.

July 6 – Zooming with our Feet: Photos of Words 

Explore how litter accumulates and travels from one community to another.  Hands-on activities that help children learn about how litter and pollutants travel through our waterways. Limit 30. Ages 8-11

NOTE: One-off event in place of Teen Tuesday.

Participants learn how to safely perform a staged fight using hand-to-hand combat and swordplay. Ages 11-18
 

Join us as we envision and create! Different mediums will be explored every month, including painting, collaging, clay sculpting, and more!
Ages 10-19.

Learn about the wildlife native to your state.  All ages.

Learn about different habitats while making fun projects with our local 4-H Cooperative Extension Office.

Come and create your own character, build a fantastic world, and explore it with your friends as we learn how to play collaborative games.

Learn, share strategies, and play the classic game of chess with players of all skill levels. Challenge your local librarian for bragging rights as we get better together!

Come enjoy a variety of building materials like Play-Doh, LEGOs, blocks and magnetic tiles along with a series of building mini-challenges! Ages 3 – 18.   

Pokémon fans between the ages of 6-12 meet the third Thursday of each month to play, trade cards, talk about your favorite Pokémon characters, and/or do a simple craft or other activity. Best for ages 6-12, but all youth are welcome.

Every 2nd Monday evening we will have read a book and discuss it. Then we’ll gather together the 3rd Monday evening and watch a film adaptation of it. We will then discuss how different they are. How similar.
